THE OUTLAW ORACLE PROLOGUE

There’s nothing quite like pulling some cards when you’re in a pinch or need some advice. But, the traditional tarot felt, at times, to be too nuanced for me to feel that I confidently was interpreting the cards. In an effort to learn the tarot, I sat down one-by-one and studied the cards - making parallels between their meanings and the country music I was raised on - so I could remember their true meanings.

If “The Devil'' in the traditional tarot isn’t necessarily the devil I learned about in Sunday School, but more so a temptation that we tend to give our power away to...well, then that sounded a lot like Waylon to me. And if “The Empress” was a person who had it all and wanted for nothing, that had to be Dolly in my book.

Before long, I decided that if I drew these cards they’d really stick in my brain - and they’d be a fun thing to do while I was stoned - and the next thing you know: The Outlaw Oracle was born. And, yes, I’m aware that this is technically a tarot deck and not an “oracle” deck - but, you know what,

we’re outlaws here and we can call it what we want. 😉
